Building Strong Bones of Knowledge: Welcome, UT Orthopaedic Surgery - Chattanooga 2023-2024 Interns

Austin Alecxih, MD

Austin Alecxih is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. During his undergraduate years at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, he actively participated in the basketball team. Following a successful stint as an orthopaedic sales consultant in Sydney, Australia, Austin decided to pursue medical studies and returned to Quinnipiac. It was during this period that he had the fortune of meeting and marrying his remarkable spouse, Alyssa. Apart from his professional commitments, Austin finds joy in playing basketball, as well as indulging in his passions for golfing and hiking alongside Alyssa.


Christina Klouda, MD

Christina Klouda is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, where she spent her formative years. During her time at the University of the Cumberlands, she excelled as an All-American swimmer while pursuing a double major in Biology and Psychology. Following her undergraduate studies, Christina enrolled in medical school at the East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine. After completing an away rotation, she was captivated by the extraordinary attributes of Chattanooga, such as its strong emphasis on early surgical skills, education, and the unparalleled camaraderie and culture among the residents. She subsequently decided to pursue her residency at UTCOM Chattanooga. Beyond her medical pursuits, Christina finds solace in swimming, hiking, attending live music events, and passionately supporting the Tennessee Volunteers alongside her family.


Conor Pumphrey, MD


Conor Pumphrey, a native of Greenville, North Carolina, pursued his undergraduate studies in Public Health at East Carolina University. He continued his education at the same university, focusing on medicine. During high school, Conor's interest in medicine was sparked when he participated in a medical mission trip to Nicaragua. This experience led him to choose a career in medicine. Additionally, Conor has a passion for studying Spanish and spent five months in Granada, Spain, during his college years.


In his leisure time, Conor finds joy in engaging in various activities, including snowboarding, hiking, golfing, shooting clays, and playing the guitar.


Conor's decision to become a resident at UTC stemmed from his month-long rotation experience. The residents' impressive knowledge and technical skills left a lasting impact on him. Moreover, he cherished the friendly camaraderie and shared dedication to excellence that permeated the program. Conor eagerly looks forward to exploring the enchanting city of Chattanooga and acquiring the necessary skills to practice orthopedics.
