CONGRATULATIONS - DRS. JEREMY BRUCE AND DIRK KINER!!!

James W. Haynes, MD, MBA, FAAFP, Professor and Dean of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in Chattanooga, has appointed Dr. Jeremy Bruce, Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Dr. Dirk Kiner, Vice Chair and Program Director of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Drs. Bruce and Kiner will be responsible for daily operations of the department and the residency program.


Dr. Bruce previously served as Associate Professor, Program Director, and Rotation Director of Sports Medicine for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery residency program. In addition to his duties as Chair, he will continue to be the Rotation Director of Sports Medicine and remain a faculty member within the Department of Family Medicine. Since 2013, he has maintained a robust and thriving practice with Erlanger Health System in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.


As a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, Dr. Bruce received his Orthopaedic Surgery training at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga. This was followed by his fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Andrews Institute in Pensacola, Florida.


As an associate professor, Dr. Kiner previously served as the Associate Program Director to the Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship and Rotation Director of Trauma for the Orthopaedic Surgery residency program. In addition to his role as new Program Director of Orthopaedic Surgery, he will continue to be the Associate Program director for the Trauma fellowship and Rotation Director for the residency program. Since 2007, he has maintained a thriving practice with University Orthopaedic Associates, Southeast Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon, and the Erlanger Health System.


As a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, he received a Master of Science in 1997 followed by his medical degree in 2001. He went on to complete his orthopaedic residency training at the University of Florida and Henry Ford Health System in Michigan. Following his residency, he successfully completed his Orthopaedic Trauma fellowship at Carolinas Medical System in Charlotte, NC
