Austin was born and raised in Decatur, Alabama. He went to Auburn University and majored in Biomedical Sciences. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart and moved to Birmingham, Alabama. This is where he attended UAB School of Medicine. He was drawn to UTCOM Orthopaedics for many reasons, but a few that particularly stuck out were the camaraderie amongst the residents, emphasis on early and often operative experience, and that the city of Chattanooga is a great place to spend five years and start a family. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his wife (Sarah) and golden retriever (Duke), hunting, fishing, skiing (both water and snow), exercising, and watching college football.
