We wanted to take a chance to introduce our new interns for the 2021-2022 year!
Joe Duff is from Cleveland, Ohio. He went to Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan for undergrad. This is where he met his wonderful wife, Jenalle. Then he attended University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio. A fun fact about Joe is that he has been bull riding. Even though he only last three seconds and gained some new bruises to show for it, but it something that he will never forget. He chose orthopaedic surgery for many reasons but the main one was the culture and the people. "The culture of hard work, no nonsense, and team-first environment fit well with his mentality and upbringing. Despite the hard work and long hours that Orthopaedic surgeons have to put in to become successful, it is clearly evident that orthopaedic surgeons actually enjoy what they do compared to other fields in medicine and had fun doing it too."
Dillon Morrow grew up in the small town of Camden, SC. He went to Clemson University for undergrad (go tigers) and then USC School of Medicine Columbia for medical school. A fun fact about Dillon is that he enjoys playing guitar. He choose Orthopaedics because there is often a definitive treatment plan for the patients we will see, and being able to help allow patients to get back to their desired quality of life is something truly special to the field of orthopedics.
Richard Murray is from Augusta, GA. He went to the University of Georgia and graduated in 2017. Then he attended the Medical University of South Carolina. A fun fact about Richard is that he became a scratch golfer during college. He chose Orthopaedics because he enjoys helping patients in a tangible way that enables them to get back on their feet doing what they love.
We would introduce our new research guy, Andrew Wilson! He is from Chattanooga. Andrew graduated from UTC with a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's of Science in Athletic Training. Also, he is currently working on his PhD in Leadership and Decision-Making. A fun fact about Andrew is that he was a navigator in the Navy prior to attending graduate school with three transatlantic deployments. He originally chose to do research in ortho because he is a licensed athletic trainer that was pursuing the physician extender role in orthopaedic medicine. Two mentors of mine suggested pursuing a PhD and a career in research; fell in love with it since.
